A three-part pattern
- Evidence of success: Your meaning is clear.
- One repair: Use the past form here.
- Reusable cue: Yesterday → went, not go.
Complete example:
Your meaning is clear. Try the sentence again with the past form: went, not go.
Match feedback to the error
| Error | Useful cue |
|---|---|
| tense | time marker and verb form |
| word order | position of subject, auxiliary and verb |
| collocation | the natural word partnership |
| register | who is speaking to whom |
| incomplete idea | one specific detail to add |
During practice
- Compare your verb with the time phrase.
- Try the question again: auxiliary before subject.
- The noun is right; check the verb that normally goes with it.
After practice
- You can now describe a finished event clearly.
- One thing to keep practising is question word order.
- Your next step is to use the phrase in a longer exchange.
Avoid vague judgement
Wrong, Bad grammar and More do not show the learner what to do. Не исправляйте пять разных ошибок сразу, если одна из них связана с текущей целью, а остальные не мешают пониманию.
Choose timing
Остановите ученика сразу, если ошибка разрушает целевую модель в контролируемой практике. В более свободном задании можно записать ошибку и обсудить её после завершения мысли.
